What are the Distinctions between Coaching, Therapy and Consulting?

Coaching is forward moving and future focused.

The major focus of Counseling is to address the healing of the past and/or possible medical conditions, which may be both psychological and/or physical in nature. The therapeutic process may focus on the healing and resolution of issues rooted in the client's past, or issues related to abuse, addictions, or trauma response.

Therapy outcomes often include improved emotional/feeling states. While positive feelings/emotions may be a natural outcome of coaching, the primary focus is on creating actionable strategies for achieving specific goals in one's work or personal life.

The emphasis in a coaching relationship is on action, accountability and follow through. Coaching is less concerned with a client's remedial work (healing old wounds) and more focused on moving a client forward, while taking the past and present into consideration. The main thrust of coaching is to develop the client's present and future life, through new observations that support possibilities for different more effective actions. Becoming a powerful observer in life leads to new possibilites for different and more effective results to achieve goals and dreams with a forward momentum.

Consultants have a specialized expertise and offer prescribed solutions. A coach believes people are capable of generating their own solutions and offers a supportive, discovery-based approach. A trainer assumes a linear learning path which coincides with an established curriculum. A coach is less linear without a set curriculum. The client and the coach may co-create the learning goals.

How do our moods affect the way we are living?

Depending on our mood, whether we are living in gratitude, joy, anger or fear each and every interaction will be flavored from that mood. If some one asks to have a business meeting discussing a project they are wanting you to invest in, most likely if your mood is fear you will only hear whats being said from scarcity, resistance and maybe resentment.

If you are in a mood of gratitude you will hear the conversation with openness, curiosity, and possibilities. Our mood has everything to do with our willingness to be present.

What clients do best from Ontological Caoching?

Clients that have a need to move forward and are willing to trust in a process that allows growth and conciseness.

Clients that are in transitions, relationships, career options, family issues that want to flourish in their choices.

Clients that have difficulty with relationships. (being heard, staying present, sharing their truth openly and choosing the right partner)

How quickly could we see results?

Once the awarness of looking at the primary mood that has been living with a client they are able to see how each and every conversation is being triggered from there. Clients notice a new awareness often in their first session.

Are there lots of assignments or homework?

We will talk about the goals clients want to achieve from his/her sessions and depending on those tasks we will co-create a series of assignments that focus on "just" noticing.

What is the cost and is there a minimum of times needed to see you?

After an intitial conversation we will discuss the plan that serves the clients needs. Most clients sign up for a 3-6 month contract. We meet once a week in person or on the phone. There are circumstances when we meet sporatically or every other week.

The best results come from weekly sessions. My basic rates are $175.00 for an hour and 15 minute session.

Clients have the ability to utilize my skills via phone, Skype or in person at my office.
